connoisseur and premier farmer, established Nesbit Blueberry Plantation in 1984. George along with his wife, Pat, and five children bought the land in the fall of 1983. After working all winter and early spring clearing the land, they planted the first crop in the spring of 1984. After waiting four years, he opened the farm to the public as a "You-Pick" Blueberry Farm. Every summer since then, families have traveled near and far to enjoy fresh from the plant blueberries, jams, jellies and other goodies from the farm. George’s daughter, Terri, and her husband, Chris Cooper now spend their summers running the farm. With Terri and Chris’ guidance and hard labor, the farm stays true to its roots. The Traicoff children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren continue to travel to Nesbit each summer to participate with the four generations of blueberry farmers. Some of the farm employees did not start out as family, but they certainly have become family. George and Pat Traicoff know that it’s not just about the berries.
